Current Developments in Bulk Solids Handling
Two international conferences in Barcelona and Prague in 2006 and 2008 summarized the latest developments in the field of bulk solids technology. While the focus of the first conference was on innovations in the storage, handling and transportation of bulk solids, the second conference concentrated primarily on the environmental impact of the systems. Both conferences brought together scientists and practitioners, with the contributions reflecting theoretical principles and their feasibility in everyday industrial practice. Professor Lodewijks, who chaired both conferences, summarized the most important and innovative contributions for this book. The result is a work that shows the current development of bulk solids technology on a broad basis, as discussed and applied by globally recognized experts. Four chapters show the state of the art: A. Belt Conveying, B. Pneumatic Conveying, C. Silo & Dry Bulk Terminal Technology and D. Environmental Aspects.
Dr. ir. Gabriel Lodewijks is Professor of Transport Engineering & Logistics at Delft University of Technology and is a recognized expert. He is also head of Conveyor Experts B.V., a company he founded that is active worldwide in the field of belt conveyors, and is Chief Technology Officer of the Schiphol Group. In addition to many publications, he was Chairman of the BulkEurope 2006 and BulkEurope 2008 conferences.
